Hog Heaven on the High Seas
On each of six annual Harley cruises, up to 70 people take as many as 35 bikes onboard. Each passenger is paying $1,100 to $1,500 for a stateroom bed, a bit more than regular passengers pay. Included in the premium are a few perks. Harley riders, personally rolling their bikes off the ship, are the first off every port. At the mandatory immigration check on St. Thomas, the bikers skip to the front of a long line of other passengers. White luggage tags are distributed at the end of the cruise, allowing the bikers to clear customs first.

Apparently off-limits to me because I do not choose to ride a Harley, but you might be interested.

Canadian motorcycle death rate falls
But it appears that motorcyclists in Canada, and particularly those in Ontario, are not like their American counterparts when it comes to getting involved in road crashes. In other words, U.S. statistical trends do not necessarily apply here.... Suggestions made...ranged from the idea that we have had better rider training and testing programs here, to the fact that more than half the U.S. states do not require adult riders to wear safety helmets any more, to the perception that Canada is probably stricter on impaired driving than they are in the U.S.

Putting motorcycle passion on wheels
"I have seen people fly over their handle bars and land on their back because the motorcycle kicked back as they were trying to start it," Atkinson recalled. "And once I had a guy come in and ask me to build an engine from two halves of two different engines. I am not even sure why he wanted to do it."

A mototcycle with air conditioning?

The art of the motorcycle
The motorcycle, as an art form, already has been validated by leading art institutions like the Guggenheim Museum, whose widely popular, Frank Gehry-installed exhibit "The Art of the Motorcycle" in 1998 touted the cultural and its allure that embodies rebellion, freedom, sex and danger, as an emblem of the 20th century.

Cruising Missle
It's called an Ecomobile, or Eco, and it's basically a motorcycle enclosed in a hard shell that makes it suitable for riding all year around, in any kind of weather short of Buffalo in January.... It comes with heat, air-conditioning and a radio, stereo, GPS system. And its 1200-cc BMW motorcycle engine gets 50 miles per gallon of gasoline. However, with a price tag of nearly $80,000 - which will induce not just sticker shock but sticker seizures in most people - the Eco would appear to be a tough sell as a mass-market vehicle.

Wheel Life, on Display at the Motorcycle Show
Her mother once told her she'd be disowned if she ever bought a motorcycle. But that didn't stop NPR's Petra Mayer from checking out the International Motorcycle Show in Washington, D.C. She found eye-catching bikes, including a Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic Screaming Eagle, and a trio of Texas teens in a stunt-riding show. And she came away "longing for the open road."

Female motorcycle officer revels in demanding job
She said one of the reasons many female officers do not want to ride a motorcycle is because they do not want to wear a helmet during hot seasons or put up with the cold weather. And if an accident occurs and the motorcycle rolls over one's body, "you have to be able to lift it up." In addition to her demanding job, Audsley-Reiter and her husband have five children between ages 3 and 9.
